USE OF MOTOR-CYCLES.

SUGGESTION OF RESTRICTIONS. An intimation that the New Zealand Road Safety Council intended to consider, in March, proposals as to whether or not restrictions should ba placed on the use of motor cycles was received by the Manawatu County Council, yesterday, from the Commissioner of Transport, who asked for an expression of the council's views on the subject Cr. J. H. Perrett expressed th« opinion that it was not the machines, but the speed at which they were ridden which led to trouble, and the restriction should be on speed. Motor cycles served a useful purpos. and were required for defence corps, he said. The council decided to reply that it was in favour of reasonable restrictions only being imposed.
