HEAVY FINE.
MOTORIST PUNISHED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 14. An assurance by Robert Court that he was the holder ol a driver’s license, hut did not have it with him, was later found to he false by an inspector of the Transport Department and led. to Court’s appearance before Mr E. C. Levvey in the Magistrate's Court on a charge of speeding. He. was fined £5, and on a charge of driving without a license he was fined £2O. The inspector explained that he found Court’s license had been cancelled for twelve months when Court was convicted on a charge of being intoxicated in a car. He had stopped Court on the Main North Road after observing defendant travel at 49 miles an hour within the 30 miles an hour limit. SENTENCE TO PRISON. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Feb. 14. Albert James Abbott, aged 42, a blacksmith, charged with being intoxicated in charge of a motor truck, was sentenced tn one month’s imprisonment. His license was suspended for two years.
