(From Our Ow r n Correspondent.) AOKAUTEUE, Feb. 13.

At the monthly meeting of the local Women’s Institute Airs 1). Scott presided over a good attendance. It was decided to enter a stall of flowers, fruit, and vegetables at the Horticultural Show this month, Aiesdames Scott, Alackie, Orr, Laukshcar and Aiiss C. Field to be in charge. The correspondence regarding the box scheme from Aiassey College was discussed at length, and it was decided to write to Miss Johnson for further information. The secretary- (Airs L. Craven) gave an account of the takings from the Christmas tree fancy dress dance. This was very well patronised and was a great success. The monthly competition, nibbling a biscuit into the shape of a cat, caused much amusement, the winners in the seniors being Airs Orr 1, Airs 1). Scott 2, Airs Lankshear 3, and in the juniors Alisa l. Anderson 1 and Aiiss E. Orr 2. The bloom competition resulted: Aiiss I. Anderson 1, Airs jL>avcy 2, Aiiss E. Orr 3. A written competition was won by Airs Coliirits and Aiiss Al. Anderson, and the musical arms by Airs Riddle. It was decided i hat these social afternoons be held alternately with afternoons on which there are demonstrations. This is to be a recommendation to the incoming committee. The

A meeting of all interested was later held to discuss the schedule for the forthcoming flower show under the auspices of the garden circle. Alembcrs were reminded that next month is the annual general meeting. The competition is for the best quilted cushion, and members will entertain the outgoing committee at afternoon tea and with items. FITZIIERBERT EAST JUBILEE.

A representative meeting of the above Jubilee Committee was held recently, Air A. 11. Ferguson presiding. The date for the forthcoming garden party was confirmed and arrangements were finalised. Stall-holders were appointed. and arrangements made for outside attractions, some of which will bo entirely new to the district. Trophies for the nail driving were donated by Airs W. Anderson, for the chain-stepping by Airs R. R. Scott, and for the competitions by Air Jackson and Air Ferguson. Air Jackson is bringing some new ideas in competitions. The competition officials were appointed as follow : —Nail driving, Air H. Robertson;, eh a in-stepping, Air N. Chowen; shooting gallery, Mr it. Andrews; quoits, Air J. Woodley. The produce stall will bo in charge of Airs Chowen and Miss N* Brill, and the afternoon tea in charge of Airs Craven and Miss L. Gough, It was unanimously decided to invite Air J. A. Nash to open the garden party, which is to be followed by a dance, donations to the various stalls would bo gratefully accepted by any member of the committee.
