WORLD ACHIEVEMENT

SEE YOURSELF. Plow would you like to travel 100 miles without going anywhere?' You can do it in London if you climb above the road of the city and reach tho Bth floor of Aklwyoh House. There you will find a car in a room no bigger than a bedroom, its radiator pressed against what looks like a cinema screen. AVI ion you step in and start it up there is a roar like tho splutter of a 1912 model. Then tho lights fade and t-ho room is in darkness, ..and you find yourself slipping into gear land pressing on the accelerator as you go careering along a road and round a corner, swerving aside or putting the brake on frantically if you think you are about to mount the grass bank. AI the time the car jolts and thunders and you have the impression you arc travelling a long way, though in reality you never budge an inch. What really happens is that a real toy landscape is magnified, and’ the lighting throws a. picture of it on tlie screen—all coloured realistically.

As tho scene moves the exact route of the car is traced in a series of dots on a length of pajjer below the car, and the path of the dots shows his speed, and if he took the corners correctly.

This apparatus is for tho use of the gentlemen who believe that .a. little drink doesn’t affect anyone’s driving. The results of numerous experiments show that even a very small consumption of alcohol seriously affects tho time sense and causes tho driver to steer erratically.—(L)
