DUKE OF GLOUCESTER.
NEW COUNTRY RESIDENCE. LONDON, Jan. 5. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester arc expected to run their own pack of fox hounds next season from kennels which are being enlarged at Barnwell Castle, the old Northamptonshire mansion they havo acquired. Extra stabling accommodation for servants is being built under the personal supervision of the Duke and Duchess, who are to move in next September.
Footpaths have l>een made and cleanly surfaced. The ancient creeper which lias covered the stonework on tlic front of the castle for many years is being removed in order that a more seemly appearance may bo shown. Queen Mary does not like creepers on walls.
Before September the whole place will he electrified. A small army of workmen will soon occupy the gardens, which, except for the magnificent lawn on the south terrace, are to be entirely redesigned.
