BURNS NIGHT.
CELEBRATIONS AT FEILDING. Last evening members of the Feikling Caledonian Pipe Band and Society held a Burns Night in honour of the great Scottish poet, the anniversary of whose birth fell yesterday. The function was held in the Drill Hall, and preceding the ceremony the Pipe Band paraded at Kowhai Park and inarched to the hall, being led'by Drum-Major F. A. Dalaell. There was a large attendance, and visitors wevo present from a wide area. Those present included the Mayor (Mr T. L. Seddon) and other prominent citizens.
Just before supper the haggis was piped in by Pipe-Major W. Budge, of the Wanganui Band. Mr \Y. McKay, of Apiti, stroke on the life of the great poet, explained the origin of the lviggis, and recited part of the Ode to the Haggis. Drummer \V. Weir acted as MX'., and items were given by three Wanganui pipers. Supper wan served by tlie ladies’ coni.uittce, and the function proved a most •saccorwful one.
