NATIVE RACES.

LESSONS FROM RESEARCH. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 2 5. At present in Wellington is Dr. S. M Lambert, who for the past 27 years has been sole representative of the Rockfeller Foundation in the tropic islands of the Pacific. His studies of native races include the Maoris, and recently he completed a close study of these people extending over a year and the subject of a confidential report to the Government. He has the greatest admiration for them, and believes that, like the other native races he has come in contact with in the islands, they are willing and anxious to learn how to help themselves. Dr. Lambert said the East Indians are now increasing more rapidly than the Fijian natives, and he holds the view that, in order to preserve the Fijians from degeneration, steps should be taken to postpone the East Indians’ predominance.
