ESSENTIAL WORKERS

IN NATIONAL SERVICE.

OYER HALE POPULATION,

BRITISH PRECAUTIONS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received January 25, 11.5 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 24. Between 6,000,000 and 7,000,000 persons, half of Britain’s man-power, arc included in the Government’s scheme of “reserved occupations” in the Ministry of Labour’s schedule, which is published to-day. The jobs of these workers are regarded as of national importance and they will not be enrolled for any form of national service such as air raid precautions, which are wholelime in war but not in peace.

The schedule shows workers, whether by reason of their ago and occupation, or both, that their job is regarded as a national service.
