EXEMPTION SOUGHT.
FARMERS’ MOTOR TRUCKS
TRAFFIC LICENSE FEES
HAMILTON. Jan. 23.
A reply was received from the Minister of Transport (Hon. R. Semple) by the South Auckland Dairy Association to a request that fanners’ motor trucks, used by farmers for the transport of their own goods, should be exempt from the payment of heavy traffic license fees. The Minister said the mailer was one for the individual local bodies, who received the fees, to take what action they considered advisable.
It. was pointed out by members that there was lack of uniformity in regard to the action of local bodies. Some required the fees to l>e paid, while others took no action to collect them. Ft was decided to write to the. Counties' Association asking that that organisation take the matter np with tlie Minister, with a view to securing legal exemption for farmers from the payment of fees.
