SWINDLING CHARGES.
APPLICATION FOR EXTRADITION
SYDNEY, Jan. 20. An application to extradite John Woolcott-Forbes, the prominent Australian who was arrested on swindling charges, from Bombay was made today in the Central Police Court, when considerable evidence with regard to the affairs of the Producers’ and General Finance Corporation was given by the managing-director, Mr Albert Follow, whoso testimony was mainly directed at a missing scrip book and certain certificates, and his conversations with a fellow director and Wool-eott-Forbes concerning their disappearance. The case was adjourned until Monday.
John Woolcott-Forbes, who is widely known in commercial and racing circles in Sydney, was arrested by the Bombay police in accordance with cabled instructions from the Sydney police when the liner Strathnaver arrived there. In the meantime, Douglas Jowett Bush was arrested in Brisbane on the charge that he conspired and agreed with Woolcott-Forbes and other persons to defraud the Producers and General Finance Corporation and oilier persons of large sums of money. Bush was remanded to appear in Sydney.
