SIEGFRIED BRINGS 800GNS. | PURCHASES FOR AUSTRALIA. J The national thoroughbred sales were concluded at, Trenthani yesterday when brood marcs, horses in training, untried stock, some two-year-olds and miscellaneous stock were offered. The feature ot the auction was ihe dispersal of the Mana Stud, on account of Mr R. H. M. Holden, Poukawa, Hawke’s Bay, which ivas headed by the high-class proved sire Siegfried. Siegfried was bought by Mr A. Chisholm, of Otautau, Southland, for 800gns. , lie is the sire of WoUtti winner of the Aid- ! bourne Cup in 1936 in record time, Essex, Brunhild, Lady Furst, Wilson, Siegift and many other distinguished winners. I Luock, the leading brood mare ol the stud, with a brown filly by Siegfried and served by Siegfried, brought 70ogns. She was purchased by Mr C. Wheeler of 1 Adelaide. The Siegfried—Lilock colt sold at the yearling sales this week brought 1400gns, and was also bought. by Mr Wheeler to go to Australia. Princess Bell, from the same stud, with a bay filly by Siegfried and served by Siegfried, brought 450gns., also being purchased to go to Australia, Mr \V. J. Smith, of Sydney, who bought, so many yearlings on Wednesday, was the buvci. The third top price of the sale was 650 gns. paid for Blue Maid, with a bay colt I foal by Bulandshar and served by Bula-nd- j shot-, sold on account of Mr J. S. Me- , Leod, Hastings. She was also bought by Mr W. J. Smith, of Sydney. A pleasing fillv of good breeding was the two-year-old "bay by llarinero out ol Headlight which, sold in the Mana Stud lot, was bought by AJr «J.
