MARTON, Jan. 21
The sixtieth anniversary of the formation of the Marton Fire Brigade was celebrated at a function held last evening, when there were a number of brigadesmen present from Palmerston North and other centres. Professor D. B. Anderson, of Auckland, who demonstrated and lectured on the art of swimming at the Marton baths yesterday afternoon and evening, has left for Nelson. Mr J. B. Cotterill, M.P. for AVanganui, and president of the AAhanganui Swimming Centre, was a visitor to Marton in connection with Professor Anderson’s visit.
