Round Up’s victory in the A.R.C. Handicap at Kllerslie was a meritorious one, and the Lord Quex gelding ranks as the best northern handicapper seen for some considerable tim?*. Unluckily beaten in the Auckland Cup, his record may have been even better, but since being purchased by Mr T. lmpey and trained at Takanini bv F. Smith, he has won over £4OOO, a total that has been exceeded only once by 'J’akanini-trained horses since the track was established, this being that fine filly Eaglet, who won in all over £6OOO. Possibly the two hard races earlier in the meeting affected Round Up in the Clifford Plate, as he was beaten some distance from the post.
