PERSONAL.

Mr and Mrs J. Milne Allan and Miss D. Milne Allan have returned home from a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs R. Mills have returned from Foxton beach. Mr and Mrs L. D. Lovelock have returned to Pahiatua after a holiday spent at Waipukurau. Mr and Mrs W. D. C. Crewe have returned home after a holiday tour of North Auckland. Mrs E. Stevens and the Misses Z. and J. Stevens have returned affer spending a fortnight’s holiday iir Napier. On Boxing Day the wedding was solemnised at Sacred Heart Church, Eketaliuna, Rev. Father Sweeney officiating, of Violet Grace, only daughter of Mr T. F. and the late Mrs Edge, of Newman, and Maurice, second son of Mr and Mrs J. J. Spring, of Nireaha.

OBITUARY. An association with the Eketaliuna district extending over many years was severed with the sudden passing, on Wednesday last, at the age of 63 years, of Mrs Maren Elizabeth Lawrence. of Hukanui. Born at Koputarnnga, Mrs Lawrence was the younger daughter of Mr and Mrs Soren Thoniasen, two of the first settlers of the district. She was one of the original pupils of the first Eketaliuna School, and spent the whole of her life with the exception of a few months in Waipawa. in the Eketaliuna district. She was married in 1909 to Mr Allen Lawrence, and resided at first at Eketahtina and later moved pi Kaipnroro, Waipawn and Kakariki, finally settling in Hukanui about 15 years ago. Airs Lawrence is survived bv three daughters. Mrs R. T. Udv (Hukanui), Airs H. A. Gardner (Pahiatua), and Aliss Ada Lawrence (Hukanui), and three sons, Afessr.s Allan Lawrence. Raymond Lawrence and Charles Lawrence, and one grand-daughter, Jennifer Udv, one sister. Airs Rrosman (Auckland), and four brothers. Messrs .Tens Thoniasen (Auckland), Bartle Thoniasen (Raurimu). Ras Thoniasen (Aten) and Jergen Thoniasen (Rewa). She was prodeceased by one son, Eric, who died at the age of 7J years, and one brother.
