SPORT IN GERMANY.
CONTROL BY THE STATE. BERLIN, Jan. 5. It lias been decreed by Herr Hitler that sport throughout Germany henceforth shall be State-controlled. He has appointed Herr von Tsehainmer und Osten leader of the new NationalSocialist League of Physical Exercise, to be responsible for the “physical education of the German people.” The decree transfers to the State the ownership and control of all sporting clubs and organisations which have promoted physical exercises or sporting competitions. Excepted are organisations which have promoted war games, or motor-plane or horse racing. The formation of tile league was inspired by the summer gymnastic festival at-Breslau. League members alone will represent Germany in international competitions.
