FELL FROM LAUNCH.
NEW ZEALANDER DROWNED.
Received December 16 10.30 a.m. SUVA, Dec. 16. 1 George Bright, aged 35, superintendent of the Suva Fire Brigade, and formerly of Auckland, fell from a launch' in the Rewa River on Wednesday and disappeared. His body was rescovercd this morning.
MR BRIGHT’S CAREER, Per Press Association. ‘ . , AUCKLAND, Dec. 16. The first news of the drowning of Mr George Bright, the superintendent of the Suva Fire Brigade, was received in a cable from the Suva Fire Board to the Auckland fire station, where his brother, Mr Eric Bright, is employed. His mother, Mrs H. Bright, resides at Sandringham, Auckland. Mr Bright was born in Sydney but bad lived most of his life in Auckland.. He joined the Central Fire Station staff at the age of 21, and remained until he became deputy-superintend-ent at Suva, twelve years ago. He received high praise for his work in the disastrous fire in a copra store in March, 1937, .when his right arm was severely burnt.
