ANGLICAN CHURCH. (From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, Doc. 16. The members of the Ladies’ Guild had their final meeting of the year at the home of Mrs W. J. Yilos (hon. secretary). Also present were Mcsdames C. M. Stanley (president). S. H. White, A. K Prujean, A. n Mi.s’ae, and J. H. Cowan. Apologies were received from Miss Stanley (hon. treasurer), Mrs F. Munro ancb-Aliss Gil-inour-Siuith. A sum from the garden party profits was allotted to the vicarage luiilding fund, and per cent, to the Webb fund (for local church maintenance). It was also decided to authorise Miss Stanley to purchase two dozen cups and saucers. The next meeting will be held at the end of January or early February. The president expressed thanks for the help given by all members and extended to them the compliments of the season. Members reciprocated the good wishes. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Yilcs. WOMEN’S DIVISION.

A well attended Christmas meeting of the local Women’s Division was held on Wednesday afternoon. As it was an “open” afternoon many visitors were present as guests. Airs A. Viles presided and at the conclusion of the business a number of social competitions were enjoyed. Arranged by Mrs T. Purnell (hon. secretary) and Mrs Viles, several humorous competitions were interspersed with the * more serious. Winners were A'lcsdames J. Cowan, J. Jensen, J. Alapson, C. Alclvay, Alisses A. Hodson, and A. Benseman. A new member welcomed was Mrs J. Mapson. A bring and buy stall in charge of Mrs C. li. McIntyre did good business. A roll call, favourite verse or quotation, found a ready response. Christmas carols were sung with Mrs A. Viles at, the piano, and Mrs J. ROsborne and Miss Mawhinnev leading. A competition for iced Christmas cake had been arranged for the High School giiL, and there was also a separate class for members. Winners for the girls were Annie Benseman 1, Muriel Nix 2, Joyce unit® 3 and in the members’ class Mrs A. ' na= was the winner. Mr T. K. McLean judged the entries. In the flower competitions, which were judged by Mrs J. Jensen t,ie results were: Six blooms, Miss 1 atterson 1 Mrs A. Viles 2. Pansies, Mrs A. Viles l’ Miss Patterson 2. The next meeting will he held at the home of Mrs A. Viles, at the Marton Block. There will be an exhibition of Christmas gifts and two competitions: Twelve best blooms, slice of Christmas cake. The prizes for the social competitions had been given by Mrs I urnell. to whom a vote of thanks was carried, tor the High School girls’ competition, prizes were given by Mcsdames J. H. Conan C. H. Mclntvrc and the division On hehali of the girls, Annie Benseman thanked the division for their interest and wished all a happy Christmas. The president cut the Christmas cake for afternoon tea and extended the season's greetings to all members and friends. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs J. It. Osborne leave to-day for Manunui, where they will be the guests of Mr and Mrs A. W. Bird. Later they will go on to Auckland and Dargavillo for Christmas and the remainder of the school holidays. Miss M. Mawhinncy leaves today for Patca. The winner of the Women s Institute cake was Master Lloyd t\ ildbote. Miss Mary Mclntyre is visiting relatives in Taurriarunui. Mr R. C. J. Martin has returned home for the holidays. Ken Stanley, son of Mr and Mrs C. M. Stanley, has been awarded a Balsillio memorial scholarship at the Palmerston North Boys’ High School.
