DOUBLE TRAGEDY.
MOTHER AND SON DEAD.

Mrs Arthur Kerr and her son Jack, aged 10, were found dead, apparently murdered, at their home at Uruwhenua, fifteen miles from Takaka, early this morning. A daughter, Miss I. Kerr, was in the house at the time of the happening and gave the alarm to the neighbours, who informed the policeman at Takaka. Constable A. C. Straw-bridge visited the house and took to Takaka the husband of the deceased woman. Mrs Kerr and the boy apparently had been shot with a .22 calibre rifle. Kerr is a farmer at Uruwhemia, and is aged about 50. He kept the Uruwhenua Post Office. The tragedy was discovered at about 5.30 this morning . Their home is on the West Takaka Road, being the first house after the junction of the East and West Takaka Roads. „ • „ . Inspector J. Carroll, of Nelson, ac companied bv Detective F. Hayhurst and Constable A. G. Hogg,, has proceeded from Nelson to investigate the case. After enquiries liad been made at the house, the bodies of the two deceased were taken to Takaka.
