MOURNING IN OSLO.
SORROW FOR POPULACE. Received November 21, 12.5 p.m. OSLO, Nov. 20. The news of Queen Maud’s death has caused sorrow throughout the nation. The newspapers have been permitted to break the ban against Sunday publications. Crowds gathered before the Royal Palace, gazing at the Royal Banner flying at half-mast. King Haakon has sent a message to the Bishop of Oslo : “The Queen has passed away. It is well to know she is free from any more pain.” Prince Olaf is going to London. The late Queen Maud Charlotte May Victoria, a sister of the late King George V and aunt of George VI, was born on November 26, 1869. On July 22, 1896, she was carried to King Haakon VII of Norway, the second son of the late King Frederick VIII of Denmark. Their only son, the Crown Prince Olav, married in 1929 Princess Marte of Sweden.
