In the first day of their match with High School, in the junior A division, Y.M.C.A. batted first to make 72. and in their second strike had lost one wicket for 27 at stumps. High School made L 23. On Saturday the Y.M.C.A. second innings was carried to 216 (Hiekin 68, Burton 77 ; Waters 3 for o/ , Gunn 4 for 62. Kov 2 for 39). High School required 160 for their second innings and reached IC4 for 4 wickets (Toana.ngn, senr.. 68. Rodgers 48 not out, Edwards 31) Hjgh School thus took an eight-point win. Public Services were all out for So in their first innings against- Palmerston, and the latter replied with 244. At the call of time on the first- day Ptib' c Services had three wickets down for 74. and on Saturday we/e all out for 129 (Barrett 17. not out. Corkill 34; R. Ormond 8 for 26). Palmerston thus won bv an innings and 30 runs. Optimists’ first innings realised 104 in their m.atcli with United, and the latter replied with 74. Optimists /in their second innings made 142 (Kempson 42, Rice 40. Somerville 14, Cummings 12; W. Francis 4 for 38). United made onlv 80 in their second innings (Le Clieminant 24, R. Hav 16. Haxton 12 Burn 10; O'Connell 3 for 26, McNab 3 for 19). The honours thus went to Optimists.
