GIRL GUIDES.
COMPANY ACTIVITIES,
A party was given by the Takaro Girl Guide Company for their annual money-raising effort, when games of all kinds were enjoyed, Mrs Barkwith played the accompaniments for the musical items. New tents have been acquired and camping preparations are being busily carried on. Half an hour was spent at the last meeting learning to put up the tents and the way to tieat them in wet and fine weather. The Fifth Palmerston North (St. Paul’s) Company devoted their last meeting night to second-class work and tracking. At camp fire several new songs were learned for Christmas. Cyclists’ badges were presented to Winnie Murray and Shirley Dobson. It is hoped to have another outdoor meeting next week, when fire-lighting and tracking will be tested. Last week the Palmerston North Rangers had a breakfast hike to the Pahiatua Track. They cycled to the breakfast spot and then climbed the hills and went along the creek beds till lunch time. The candidates for the Nature lover’s badge had ample opportunity for observation, and clematis. wineberry, panax or five-finger and hinau were seen.
