HOUSEHOLD HINTS.

Green peas are greatly improved by cooking in equal parts of milk and water instead of all water. Scorch marks, if they are only slight, can often be removed if sponged at once with vinegar. Scorches of a more serious nature will yield to treatment by chloride of lime paste. Tea stains on table linen can be removed by rubbing with borax and steeping in boiling water. Stockings that become marked at the ankles with boot-polish stains can be effectively treated by applying methylated spirits. Water stains on silk can often he removed by soaking them in methylated spirits and then washing slowly in tepid soapy water.
