BRITAIN’S HUGE BILL. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Nov. 3. The cost of the recent mobilisation of the Fleet lias been provisionally assessed at £2,000,000. It is estimated that the cost of the air raid precautions to local authorities was about £3,300,000, of which £2,000,000 fall to-the National Exchequer. The Chancellor (Sir John Simon) stated in the House of Commons that the estimated cost to the Exchequer of the special measures, directly attributable to the recent international crisis, including Elect mobilisation and air raid precautions, would be in the neighbourhood of £5.500,000, in addition to the £10,000,000 credit to Czechoslovakia.
