AIR MAIL DELAYS.
ANNOYANCE IN LONDON. POSTINGS TO AUSTRALIA. LONDON, Oct. 2(3. Dissatisfaction in business circles is as great as ever regarding the continued delay in arranging regular Imperial Airways mail postings to Australia. Neither the Post Office nor Imperial Airways indicate when stabilised posting dates are likely to be announced. They only advise posting when the mails are ready. Imperial Airways say the solution oi the problem depends upon the Post Office, officials of which says the diffi culties will continue until Imperial Airways provide sufficient machines. They add that these difficulties will be insurmountable as long as the available passenger, mail and freight accommodation is limited.
it appears that defence requirements are delaying the delivery of additional aeroplanes. For this reason mails posted sometimes two or three days before an aeroplane’s probable departure from Southampton are liable, because of congestion of space, to await later despatch.
