THE SHEEP RETURNS.
A DOMINION RECORD. Preliminary returns of sheep for the Dominion are now available from., the current Abstract of Statistics, and today there are more sheep in the Dominion than at any time in its history, or at all events this was the ease when the figures were collected as at April 31. The total is 32,378,774, or a mil-lion-odd more than in the preceding year. Breeding ewes show a corresponding increase of 331,000, also the highest number. _ If the lambing percentage is anything like normal this season this number should enable the lamb quota allotment to be maintained. The detailed figures for the different land districts are as follow : Breeding Total
