“TIME IS RIPE.”
GESTURE TO MUSSOLINI. LONDON, Oct. 18. The diplomatic writer, Mr Vernon Bartlett, says that the Government might, in the near future, make Parliament’s ratification of the AngloItalian Agreement a question of confidence. It is believed that the Government is of the opinion, now that the Czech barrier to the German political and economic penetration in SouthEastern Europe lias been removed, that German and Italian interests will be more directly conflicting. Therefore, it is maintained despite the failure of earlier naive efforts to break the axis, that the present time is favourable for a friendly gesture to Signor Mussolini.
