GENERAL WEAKNESS.
WELLINGTON SHARE MARKET. Little change was seen yesterday in the Wellington stock and share market, which remained dull and generally weak. Business was sluggish and a small turnover was recorded. Government loans were quiet and unchanged. Business was done in the 3} per cent stock, 1953-57, at £94 ss, and the 4 per cent stock, 1952-55, at £lOl. There was again a fair offering of local body debentures. Bank shares showed no improvement. Comniercial of Australia ordinaries were easier at 15s 8d and thc preference at £9 5s was a shade lower. New Zealand were wanted at 41s (sd, sellers asking 42s 2d. Union eased 6d to £8 7s. There was a poor market for industrial issues, buyers staying out of several sections. Broken Hill Proprietary eased to business at 56s and Dunlop Perdriau to 20s 9d. G. J. Coles recovered from 77s 7d to 78s 9<L three lots being sold at the latter price.
