Le Mans, reached in two hours by fast steel trains from Paris, possesses one of the finest flower clocks of Europe. It is set up in the public gardens of Le Mans, and the dial of the clock, the numbers and the hands are composed entirely of flowers. Twelve, to fourteen thousand plants were necessary to make this clock, whose dial measures ten feet' in diameter. During the summer season, 40,000 plants are used for renewing, the dial and the hands. The flowers are so skilfully planted that the mechanism is never visible.
