NOTES.

Attention is directed to an announcement regarding an entertainment at Ngawapurua on Thursday evening, when Major Mewett, 0.8. E., M.C., will exliibit slides of the It.S.A. trip to Australia, and Frontiersman H. A. Bick will screen slides relating to the Far East. The views should prove both entertaining and instructive. The programme also includes a dance and the organisers are hopeful that there will be a large attendance. An endeavour is being made to revive cricket in the town, and enthusiasts are to meet this week. ' The local Rechabite Lodge has the distinction of being the first of any lodges to be formed in the town, 60 years ago. About two years later the local branch of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows was opened.
