BOWLING SEASON.

PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB. The new committee of the Palmerston North Bowling Club held its first meeting on Monday, Mr E. Bary presiding. Notification was received of several new and of others who contemplated joining, bringing the total roll to about 90. The grounds committee reported that the green was in excellent order, and would be ready for the official opening of the season, which has been fixed for October 15. During the off season improvements have been made to the club’s property, and others are in view before the opening day. including the planting of flower beds, painting of seats and repairs to fences. Competitions decided upon were club championship singles, pairs and rinks. Mr T. L. Arnott was appointed sole selector, and to control championship games. A sub-committee was set up to deal with arrangements for Saturday matches. The matter of teams for club opening days w’as left in the hands of the president and secretary (Mr W, Simmons). A sub-committee was also set up to make arrangements for a social function for members and their wives on the evening of opening day. It was decided that the committee should meet on the first Monday of each month.
