PIPING AND DANCING.

WELLINGTON CENTRE. At the annual meeting of the. Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Piping and Dancing Association Mr C. Stewart presided. Delegates were present from Palmerston North and Carterton. ' The annual report and balance-sheet were presented and adopted, favourable comment being made on tile activities of the centre in its first year of operations and the healthy state or the finances. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr I. D. Cameron (Mauriceville); chairman of executive, Mr C. Stewart; deputy-chairman, Mr T. S. Arcus (Carterton); secretary-treasurer, Mr M. Gray Nasmith; executive, Messrs J. McKenzie (Masterton), G. McLennan, W Ross (Pctone), J. W. Brown, C. Stewart, junr., W. A. Blair. M. R. Price A. Barclay, W. Ross (Mangatainoka), T. G. Bedding, A. McGowan (Eketahuna), J. W. Bird (Masterton), A MacDonald (Palmerston North), E. McQueen, It. Glasgow (Tiirakma), N. Cruden (Palmerston North) W. Eraser, W. Sutherland, V. J. Nicholson (Palmerston North). A. Hobson, P. M. Cameron, and the eh.'iirman, deputy-chairman, and secretary ex officio'; auditor, Mr J. D. McDonald. \ motion, of which notice had been given, suggesting that the meetings ot the executive should rotate between Palmerston .North, Masterton and Wellington was* considered and an amendment was carried to the effect that meetings be held in Palmerston North and Masterton when deemed convene ent. otherwise they are to be held in Wellington. . . The Feilding Pipe Band applied tor affiliation. It was resolved that affiliation be granted. The Horowhenua A. and P. Association wrote applying for a Dominion championship to be allotted to their programme on' January 28. It was resolved to recommend the Dominion Council to allot a championship. During the coming vear the rule that registered dancers only be allowed to compete at registered gatherings will be enforced; and registered dancers competing at an unregistered sports or competitions will be disqualified and not allowed to compete at registered gatherings.
