ACTIVITIES AT AWAPUNI.
THIS MORNING'S WORK. (By "Spectator.") Watches were not produced very frequently during training operations at Awapuni this morning, the course proper being closed, with any fast work confined to the trial grass.. The going was heavy and the times recorded could be of little guidance. Ecstatic looks in good trim for her Wanganni engagement and galloped four furlongs in 55sec. Also a candidate for the maiden event at Wanganui, Old Bill hit out splendidly over five furlongs the last four taking 55 l-ssec. Dainty Sue, who has ( had an easy time of late, has filled out well and was not fully extended in running five furlongs in 73sec. Great Legion and Puroto were given useful tasks and both finished well. Surmount was sent round a steady two laps and galloped home over the last two furlongs in 26sec. It was a good effort. If appearance counts for anything, Laughing Lass i.s in for another successful season. She went a fast f° ur furlongs this morning, coming home over the last three in 42sec. High Peer was asked to go five furlongs and finished on well in 1.11.. Segra and Roval Choice were given useful work, while easy tasks fell to the lot of Titter and Entheos. Erebus, the Wanganui.hurdles candidate, was not given a schooling this morning, but did two solid laps on the flat and finished well. _ G. Tattersall, the Awapuni horseman who sustained injuries at the Grand National meeting when his mount fell, made his first appearance for training work this morning. He has i made a good recovery.
