SUBSTANTIAL PENALTY

Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Aug. 31. On a charge of using premises as a. common gaming house, Arthur Owen was this morning fined £75 when he appeared before Mr Walton, S.M. The police stated that between 1917 and 1935 Owen had been convicted fifteen times for offences under the Gaming Act and had paid a total of £950 m fines.
