GISBORNE HAY DEMAND.

There is a keen demand for hay at advanced prices in Gisborne, where some farmers are facing acute shortage, while, others have an abundance. The demand has been created by protracted wet weather, which destroyed much of the feed available in pasture. The result has been heavy feeding of hay to stock. Now that the spring growth is coming away the hay is required more than ever to prevent, scouring. Good meadow hay is quoted at 4s 6d a bale, while lucerne hay is selling at 5s to 5s 6d a bushel.
