SERVICES RECOGNISED.

MR F. C. WILSON, OF MARTON. Per Press Association. MARTON, Aug. 27. The oldest acting-returning officer in the whole of the British Dominions, District Coroner at Marton for over 18 years, returning officer for very many years, and with a long and distinguished record of public service to his credit, Mr F. C. Wilson, a former Mayor, health officer, and town clerk of Marton, was to-day accorded a very high tribute from his fellow citizens at a representative gathering at the Courthouse. Mr Wilson was eulogised by several speakers and presented by the Mayor (Mr F. Purnell) with a substantial cheque subscribed to by well-wishers.

Mr Wilson, who is aged 85, recently retired from the offices of returning officer and District Coroner. During his service in the latter capacity he had conducted 160 inquests.
