Prison ruins at Port Arthur, grim reminders of the early settlement of Van Diemen’s Land, are to be placed in proper repair. The Government of Tasmania will undertake a two years’ programme, under which the whole of the ruins will he made attractive to visitors and tourists. The history of this southern port is of absorbing interest and the picturesque ruins, as well as landscape beauties, are a great attraction for tourists.
