’ EMPLOYEES’ CLAIMS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 23. ■ No agreement was reached, tins morning in the chartered clubs dispute. The employers, it was stated, felt that in offering wages and conditions on a parity with private hotels they were going as far as they could be expected to go. Following a private conference, the employers announced that they were prepared to agree to a number of the minor clauses still remaining, dealing with uniforms, travelling expenses tor workers employed after 11 p.m., and similar matters. The council rose with wages still in dispute, but the union stated that if the employers were prepared to offer a further 2s Gd a week to the lower paid workers in the kitchen it would accept the wages offered for the other female workers, and also tentatively accept tlie rates for stewards provided the employers would agree to £5 7s 6d and £4 15s, respectively, to chief and second stewards where there are between seven and ten of a staff employed. They also want £4 a week for all male employees not included in other schedules. Later a complete agreement was reached. '
The offer of the employers to increase the original wages offer was accepted, and a 44-hour week with an eight-hour day was agreed upon, the employees to work a straight shift on a half-day and finish at 1.30. The fortnight’s holiday claimed by the workers was accepted by the employers.
