SUBWAY SMASH.

TRAGEDY IN NEW YORK. NEW YORK Aug. 22. Three persons were killed and 50 injured when a subway train crashed into the rear of another to-day. An explosion and flames followed. The rescuers used blow torches to reach the trapped passengers. An excited woman attempting to leave the train as the doors were closing started a chain of events leading to the crash. Her hand becoming jambed in the door, the train stopped for her, and the incoming train crashed into it.
