NATIONAL PARTY
ATTITUDE TO LEGISLATION. LEADER’S STATEMENT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 24. Asked to-day, on kis arrival at Auckland, whether he was prepared to give the exact details of the way in which the National Party would deal with Labour’s major measures if successful at the elections, the Leader of the Opposition (Hon. A. Hamilton) indicated that such information might be expected to be given in the party’s campaign manifesto after the present Parliamentaiy session.
Mr Hamilton suggested that changes would be made in the form of amendments. “Governments don’t wipe out things,” he added. “They just take a different direction.”
While the National Party was few in numbers in Parliament, said Mr Hamilton, it anticipated a good campaign, with success at the end. The party’s present organisation was the best it bad ever been, and the selection of candidates should be completed in a fevY weeks’ time.
