BRITAIN HOLDS RECORD.
EXPRESS TRAINS’ SPEED. (British Official Wireless;. Received August 22, 8.5 a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 20. The Railway Gazette reports that an examination of British, French and German express train speeds shows that the London and North-Eastern Railway appears fully entitled with a maximum of 125 rn.p.h.—actually, for a very short distance, 126 rn.p.h., was found on the dynamometer chart—to claim the world record for steam. This speed was achieved by the Coronation streamlined express on July 3.
