OBITUARY.

MRS L. WISHNOWSKY. After a useful life spent in the Halcombe district there passed away, to the deep sorrow of her husband and family, as well as great circle of friends, a highly respected and wellknown resident of the district in the person of Mrs L. Wishnowsky. Of a very cheery disposition, the deceased lady had endeared herself to all who knew her, and will he greatly missed by her associates, especially by the members of her church, for whom she was a valued and willing worker, being aso a member of the choir. Mr and Mrs Wishnowsky were married some 27 years ago. Members of the Lutheran Churcji and choir, together with Mr and Mrs Wishnowsky and famiy, some timo ago celebrated the silver wedding in true orthodox fashion, many good wishes being expressed; and, again after such a short period, many of the same company gathered with others in the church to pay their last respects to the memory of one held in the highest esteem, offering thanks to a kind Providence for a closed chapter to a life of useful service to others. Rev. Mr Te Punga conducted the service, the Funeral March played by Mrs Te Punga. Many messages of sympathy and beautiful flowers were received by the sorrowing family. Besides her husband, there are left to mourn one daughter, Mrs F. S. Rassmussen, and one son, Ronald, besides an adopted son, Howard Wishnowsky, The funeral, which took place on Saturday, the 14th inst, was one of the largest and most representative seen in the district for some time, friends travelling from all over the island. At the graveside prior to Mr To Punga closing with the Benediction, a favourite hymn was sung containing those beautiful words: “Hold Thou Thy Cross before my closing eyes. Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies. Heaven’s morning breaks and Earth’s vain shadows flee. In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.”

The pall-bearers were relatives of deceased: Messrs F. Ji. f r R. and D. R. Wishnowsky, F. C., and C. M. Rassmussen, F. S. Wilson, T. O. Day and E. Johnski. Mr Louis Wishnowsky and family desire to thank one and all for their kindness and visitations during illness, and at time of death; also all who sent flowers and messages of sympathy as well as all who attended the funeral of the late Mrs 'Wishnowsky.
