WRESTLING.
LIVELY BOUT AT DUNEDIN. Per Press Association , DUNEDIN, Pat Fraley and Dick Raines wrestied a torrid bout on Saturday night providing the crowd with a‘thrilling climax-. The pleasantries of these two strong men came to a bead in the sixth round. Up to that stage Fraley was a fall to the good, but when he attempted to throw Raines out of the ring the referee intervened, only to be ignored. It seemed that a penalty fall to Raines would be the outcome, but Fraley wa6 really annoyed by this time and the pair slogged away at each other all over and around the unfortunate referee. Then Raines seized a chair which gyrated between the two until a sergeant and two constables decided that matters had gone far enough and put an end to the bout.
Before escaping from the ring the referee gave the decision to Raines — at least that appeared to be the upshot of the whole affair.
MOEN DISQUALIFIED. Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH, Aug. 21. Leo Numa beat Andy Moen on Saturday night. Moen was disqualified in the seventh round for failing to observe a ruling of the referee, who ordered him to desist from elbow-jolting his opponent outside the ring. Moen had gained a fall from a body-press and elbow-jolts in the fourth round, Numa equalising in the seventh with a hammer-throw and body-press.
