MARINER SEEKS LICENSE

LONDON, Aug. 4. Captain W. K Elders, of Leigh-on-Sc.a who is 71. has taken up flying and is seeking a pilot’s license. He once sailed the Cutty parh. He joined the Brisbane fire brigade and saw the 1893 floods. He also served in the Australian Navy and the Sydney fire brigade and spent seven years at pearling. He te s ot an hour s fight with an octopus when rescuing a diver in Torres Strait.
