AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. The Associated Auctioneers, Ltd. report a good yarding of store sheep, composed principally of ewe and wetner lioggets witli a small offering of breeding ewes, at their weekly JL'eliding sale. Several pens of specially advertised ewe hoggets on account of local farmers sold under keen competition, notable sales in this section being on account of Air J. Linklater, his top priced pen of ewe hoggets realising 33s Bd. This price was 2d ahead ot the price realised for 1 his annual draft at the corresponding sale last year. This offering was a Wellbred, healthy line of lull lioggets. Ewe hoggets on account of Air It. .Linklater, of Colyton, also sold readily, realising the good price of 31s 9d for his top pen. Several splendid pens of wether hoggets also met with spirited bidding, values on the whole being in advance of those ruling at recent sales. It was quite evident that purchasers were anticipating the spring growth. A strong sale for breeding ewes, especially 2-th and 4-tli and. 6-th ewes, was in evidence, and again in this department we report a strong demand, with a total clearance of the offering in the store sheep section at auction. Fat sheep.—A lighter entry than usual in both the fat ewe and wether sections was submitted; due to the smaller entry the market hardened conconsiderably especially for ewes, these again hardening to the extent of approximately Is per head in comparison with last week’s rates. Dairy cattle.—ln this section the market was again well ’ supplied and we report a sound sale for both close to profit cows and heifers of good quality’, competition again being in evidence from tlie Taranaki province, this factor being of considerable assistance to local vendors. Yearling Jersey heifers again met with strong competition at values up on last week s ia Fat cattle.—Very few station-bred cattle were submitted, the hulk of the entry being composed of Jersey cows and heifers for which, a- strong sale resulted. In comparison to quality and weight 'beef cx the dairy sold much more freely than did station bred cattle. Quotations:— - Breeding ewes. —2, 4. 6 and 4-yi ewes, r.w.
