HOCKEY
INDIANS AT TIMARU. Per Press Association. , TIMARU, July 7. The Indian hockey team beat South Canterbury to-day by two goals to nil and the ground was the worst the visitors have played on, being practically a .sea of mud, the result of recent heavy rain and frost. Under the circumstances good hockey was out of the question, but the home team put up a stubborn defence and their display was classed by the visitors as tlie best given against them on their tour under similar conditions. There was no score at half-time, but in the second half Abdul Latif scored and Sultan Khan goaled from a penalty bully.
