PREVENTING COCK-FIGHTING
MOVE TO AMEND THE LAW
LONDON. June 17.
Sir Robert Gower, M.P., chairman of the R.S.P.C.A., will ask leave on June 20 to introduce a measure further to tighten the protection of the Animals Act. 1911, under which cockfighting is illegal, by making the mere preparation af birds for fighting an offence. His action is tb3 result of revelations in the Hackthorpe Police Court on Tuesday that cock-fighting haa taken place in a lonely part of Westmoreland.
