OBITUARY

MR J. B. BLtNKHORNE. Mr John Bertie Blinkhornc, who was accidentally killed through a fall of earth at the railway deviation works at Milson last week, was born at Masterton 32 years ago and was a son of Airs and the late Air J. Blinkhornc of that town. He was highly respected, and had been working at the deviation for only a week before the accident. Air Blinkhornc is survived by .a widow and four young daughters.

AIR P. EAUVEL. Tlie death occurred at Palmerston North recently of Air Philip Eauvel, in his 86th year. Born at Jersey, Channel Islands, he commenced his apprenticeship at sea at the age of 15. In 1873, Air Eauvel migrated to New Zealand and after following various callings was finally appointed to a position in an insurance office in Wellington, where he remained for about ten years. Relinquishing his position in the Capital City, Mr Eauvel, accompanied by his wife and six children, removed to Ivaiparoro, being one of the original settlers there. He took a keen interest in the affairs of the Ivaiparoro district and was instrumental in securing the first school facilities there. On the death of liis wife in 1908 Air Eauvel returned to England and spent three years there. After remarrying he returned to New Zealand and lived in retirement in Palmerston North.

Mr Eauvel was a keen member of the Ancient Order of Foresters, being a P.D.C.IL of the Wellington district. He is survived by his wife, three daughters (Airs AT. Knight, Alls W. Hicks and Airs H. Elliott) and one son (Air P. Eauvel, of Eketahuna). Two daughters predeceased him. AIR ALEXANDER CRAHAAL The death occurred at New Plymouth on Monday, June 27, of Air Alexander Graham, who was cine of the early pioneers. Born in Scotland in 1857, Air Graham came to New Zealand at the age of 18 in the sailing ship Jessie Osborne. The passage took six months, the first port of call being Lyttelton. From there ho went to Taranaki, where ho joined the Armed Constabulary, and _ had four years of adventurous service in the Waikato and Taranaki, which culminated in the siege of Parihaka. Pa. and the capture of To Whiti. Ho then took up a farm at Hurirangi. which was almost standing bush. Here lie cleared the land, farmed under difficulties and steadily improved his position. In 1898 he took over another farm at Onaoro and remained there until 1923. when lie retired and lived in New Plymouth.

Air Graham was a staunch Presbyterian and an older in the Church. He was a member of the Oddfellows’ Lodge for 61 years, and was the oldest member of Sir Donald ATcLcan Afasonlc Lodge. Ho was also an enthusiastic bowler. Airs Graham died seven years ago and one son was killed in the Great War. The surviving members of the family are Air .T. A. Graham (Onaero"), Mr G. W. Graham (Fairlie). Aliss J. Graham, Airs P. C. Sorenson, Airs AY. F. Since (New Plymouth) and Airs F. D. Feasey (Palmerston North).
