Mrs F. Slater, of Palmerston North, is visiting Wellington. Mrs J. Hope Johnston, of Te Awe '\wo Street, Palmerston North, is visiting Wellington. Mrs Gordon Lyons, of Palmerston iNorth, is at present in Wellington.
Mrs T. A. Hunter, who has been the guest of Professor and Mrs G. S. Peren, Palmerston North, has returned to Wellington.
Mrs F. Crawford, of Featherstou Street, is a visitor to Wellington for the Perry—Nicholson wedding. Miss Myra Sawyer, (Wellington), who is singing to-night for the Orpheus Society, will be the soloist at to-mor-row morning’s service at St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Mr and Mrs J. B. Bradley, of Waitoln, leave for Australia next week. They will spend a six weeks’ holiday there.
Mrs F. Grotrian, of “Ivonewa,” Ashhurst, is staying with her mother. Mrs W. M. Shaud, Wellington, and will attend the Trentham races next week.
Miss Jean Begg, general secretary of the Y.W.O.A. for India, Burma and Ceylon, will arrive in New Zealand towards the end of the month on a holiday. Before going to her home in Dunedin she will visit Auckland and Wellington. The death has occurred at Wairoa of Mrs Wiki Gemmel], formerly Miss Wiki Hamlin, and wife of Mr P. Gemmed, a former well-known ltugby footballer, at the age of 29. Mrs Gemmed was a splendid sportswoman and considered to be one of the finest women hockey players in New Zealand.
A special welcome was extended by the chairwoman (Mrs H. W. Kersley) at the quarterly provincial meeting of the League of Mothers, held recently in Wellington, to Mrs Dymock, the representative of the newly-formed branch at Terrace End. Mrs Vance, the organising secretary, submitted a report on the formation of the new branch. There had been 112 present, 50 of whom were already members of the central Palmerston North branch, and 50 of the remainder had signified their intention of joining the newlyformed branch. Members of the Australian badminton team visiting Palmerston North this week-end are the guests of various residents. Mr and Mrs B. G. Tonkin, of Melbourne, are staying with Mr and Mrs P. B. Davidson, -? Alan Street; Messrs Brady and Harper with Mr and Mrs P. Duncalf, Grey Street, and Misses F,. llobert and I. Hewett with Mr and Mrs J. T. McDonald, Carroll Street. Mr J. Smith, of New Plymouth, president of the New Zealand Badminton Federation, and Mrs Sm ;x h are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. **enny, Grey Street, Super quality real English suede gloves are priced at 12s 6d during our sale.
