NOTES.
A meeting of the Woodville Borough Council was held for tiie purpose of striking the annual rates ror the year ending March 31, 1939. The Mayor (Mr R. R. Johnston' presided, and there were present also Crs. H. Galbraith, J. T. Horne, J. Sullivan, A. Olssen and C. Forbes. The resolution to levy the rates, was formally carried on the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Cr Galbraith. It is: estimated that fully 80 women, belonging to various teams, will take part in the forthcoming institute drama festival in Woodville. A “bring and buy” stall, organised by the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union, was held in St. David’s Church yesterday afternoon. Rev. J. H. Boyd welcomed the visitors. A competition arranged by Miss J. Kirkpatrick was won by Miss Milner. Good business was done by the stallholders, Miss Beattie and Mrs Kirkpatrick, and the funds of the organisation will be considerably augmented. Mr Boyd, c,u behalf of tile Church. returned thanks to all helpers .Credit is due to the energetic secretary (Mrs Eraser! for the success of the afternoon.
