NAZI ACTIVITIES
CANADIAN INVESTIGATION. EXAGGERATED PUBLICITY. NO DANGER FEARED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received July 1, 10.50 a.m. OTTAWA, June 29. In the House of Commons Mr E. Lapointe (Minister of Justice) announced that Canada, Britain, and tli© United States were co-operating in the espionage investigatirm, particularly of Nazi activities and CLmm unism and Fascism within Car.ada. There was no real danger. The Minister urged calmness regarding the alarming statements at public meetings by people anxious to appear as important public figures. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police were watching the situation closely and the situation was well in hand. Replying to a report that Canadian Fascists were drilling and importing arms, Mr Lapointe stated that an investigation had revealed that the Black Shirts were loud in their boasting, but they had no arms and few members. It was a case of exaggerated publicity.
